From August 2018 to July 2019, deforestation detected in Mato Grosso’s Amazon and Cerrado by the National Institute of Spatial Research (Inpe) was 2,560 km2. It represents a 10% increase in area deforested over the same period of the previous year. The native vegetation destruction in the state continues to be largely illegal.
